I’ve been feeling….

…I’ve been feeling sad, confused and worried lately. These are emotions I’ve been familiar with since I was 5 years old. Once I became aware of this a few years ago. I knew I had some healing to do. So I began digging deep into my past and provided love and comfort to my inner child.

I knew exactly what to say to my younger self. But like I said, I’ve been feeling sad, confused and worried lately. So I decided to ask my inner child for some advice.

Hey, I had something for him, maybe he has something for me and indeed he did. As I went into a deep meditative state, my inner child was there smiling and running towards me for a hug. He noticed I didn’t smile back and asked,“What’s wrong?” I began complaining and he giggled. He began smiling and said, “I think you just forgot how to play. You don’t visit me as much anymore”. He said “We made a rule to not worry so much and have more fun, remember?”

In a 30 minute meditation my younger self had given me advice! Effective advice. Life can’t be lived to the fullest without fun.

Unfortunately most adults forget to be playful and have fun. We think of being playful as unnecessary. Having fun is for children and being playful is immature. That thought can get us into trouble, because we lose sight of what truly matters.

Yes, a balance between fun and work is necessary. At times, tasks will require 100% of your focus and energy to accomplish them. But even during this process it’s important to remember it is only a process! It’s okay to have fun every once in a while.

Even when times are tough, fun is the perfect antidote for stress and anger. Life is about a delicate balance and any extreme is bad. It’s not a coincidence you’re reading this.

But at the end of the day it’s okay to have fun and create new memories! We are only here for a little while.

So have fun, laugh, be playful and enjoy.

Life is happening now.
